YAY FIRST.. FIRST.. lol well one idea that I had for the group was to have a market one day. We could team up with the AASA, Carribbean, or ISA and basically have every culture sell artwork, books, movies, treats; anything that is valuable.

I can see this happening in the new gym in the auditorium with major support from the school. The committee who approved us to be official really wanted us to be official, because they honestly support diversity. This event could be set up now to happen at the or middle of the fall semester. We could get local haitian businesses to come and sell their products (give us a percentage), we could be working the booth, having haitian bandanas and flags up. I think it could raise a lot of money but even more support from the RSO Committee that approved us.

OHH another idea is for us to really get on INCORPORATING and UTILIZING PEOPLE who cannot come to the meetings.

have a department set up just for the television show, assuming that it becomes a weekly show. We can have the people that can’t go to the meetings feel like they contribute a lot by working on the show.

We can also have the people who can’t go to the meetings because of timing to help us at events that we set up a lot more, or even just volunteer to help us make flyers, tee-shirts, take pictures, help us with a newsletter, maybe!!

the fall semester is really a recruiting season for most organizations, WE CAN GET IN ON THIS OPPORTUNITY!!! we don’t have to do a recruiting, but we could think of some times where we go outside the university and go to events to help, or speak. I see us doing like DBG and going to high schools to empower the kids there and telling them about all the positives of going to college and making something better for you. We don’t have to appeal to just the haitian crowd, but just represent something bigger than language, but how we are making a better name for our people. We need to get that stereotype off our back about being late to everything and talking, (buy blague) but working with communities to make it a better place.
I think we talked in one meeting about bobby’s-mom’s – gwinnett organization giving us scholarships to give to highschool students and support a place in haiti… i hope that we can talk more with that organization to make sure we get with it. We most def need to have different departments so not everything falls on the president,, THIS IS A ORGANIZATION!! that means anybody involved in this organization should want to FIGHT to HELP OUT in ANY way they can!!

holla atcha boi .. OH SNAP!!

WOW…i really agree with all of these points ( no favoritism). But, the market idea is great idea that never crossed my mind and it would really be successful if it’s well planned and we’ll be able to network with all these haitian-owned businesses for future references. One idea that i had was to have a community event set up maybe twice a month, so we can make a mark on this community and that’s how it usually starts, if you give of yourself unselfishly and you find ppl who see you doing moves they’ll definitely want to be apart of that movement. Just services at local schools, working with kids to tutor, etc. And another idea (maybe it’s too fantasishh..lol, but) i think that there are alot of haitian organizations out there and alot of haitian owned businesses that could probably need help in one way or another. Such as churches, we could paint or fix up some part of it…etc.

and for the bamboche t.v. i think one thing we could do with that is: have a day where we talk about our plans for the future, what we see ourselves doing and why we decided to go to college or where we see ourselves in a few years would be examples of what we would cover. I know we don’t want it strict but maybe there’s a way to get around that and make it fun or entertaining somehow. I think it would be a cool way to reach out to the kids back in Haiti…just to inspire them in any way cuz i remember being able to relate to someone being Haitian like me and seeing their accomplishments made me really think there’s a future for me. (yes..this is true…awww….lol)
